Drawing up privacy policies

Omring, an institution for home healthcare, specialized nursing, treatment and sheltered accommodation in the province of Noord-Holland, faced the challenge of developing and implementing policies in accordance with new legislation on privacy and information security. Since the legislation states that ‘you must do everything possible to protect privacy-sensitive information’, the project was started on the basis of an audit on information security. ‘All that is possible’ is a relative term, therefore we sought alignment between the Executive Board, the Supervisory Board and the management and ICT team in order to prioritize the points indicated in the audit report. This resulted in a plan of action that stipulated, on the one hand, all that was needed for the Executive Board and Supervisory Board to fulfil their responsibilities and, on the other hand, an action plan for  ICT and employees. This approach was successful and the detailed measures were implemented in 2016.

Walter Bastiaenssens, former Security Officer at Omring

‘The added value of Joost is mainly characterized by his drive to deliver things according to our agreement with him. His perseverance and the encouragement he gives to those involved in fulfilling those agreements are key. His knowledge of project-based work is substantive.’

Safe access

Omring, an institution for home healthcare, specialized nursing, treatment and sheltered accommodation in the province of Noord-Holland, faces the challenge to select and implement a solution for ‘safe and simple login’ within eight months. Omring itself has the employees with the necessary technical knowledge but they lack a clear definition of the result to be achieved, a step-by-step plan to get there and a structured way of involving suppliers. For the day-to-day operational support activities, Omring switched to a situation of ICT outsourcing. In view of the goal, Omring set for its own employees to do more project-based work we decided on a coaching role for ProjectBlauw. The result of this approach was that a solid project plan was conceived within a month and that the Omring staff are clearly the ‘owners’ of the plan.
